Daelyn Y. Richards, MD, PhD is a physician–scientist and third-year Pediatrics and Medical Genetics resident at the University of Colorado whose career centers on advancing precision medicine for inherited metabolic disorders. With a research foundation in gene therapy and CRISPR-based correction of phenylketonuria (PKU), Dr. Richards has built a translational portfolio that spans molecular genetics, clinical biochemical genetics, and emerging applications of artificial intelligence (AI). Her work integrates EHR-derived phenotypes, patient-generated data, and large-scale analytic tools to improve diagnostic accuracy, natural history modeling, and therapeutic prediction in rare metabolic diseases. Dr. Richards also serves in multiple leadership roles with flok Health, helping unite community engagement with real-world data research. She is committed to developing clinician-facing AI tools that enhance—not replace—clinical expertise, and to expanding trainee education through AI literacy and reverse mentorship. Her vision is to lead the next generation of AI-enabled care in genetics and metabolism.
